A Love Note to My Future Self
Dear Future Me,
I hope you remember the woman who got you here. Not only the smiling woman in the photographs, but the one who had to begin again on an ordinary Tuesday. The one who carried disappointment into the kitchen, burned the bread, laughed at the smoke, and made dinner anyway. She was learning to keep living while life rearranged the furniture inside her heart.
Please be gentle with her. She spent too long believing she had to explain herself into being understood. She made herself smaller in rooms that had no intention of making space. I hope you finally know this: your worth did not begin when someone approved of you. The blue hair, the big ideas, the loud laugh, the soft heart — none of them needed an apology.
I hope you are still creating. Plant something even if the garden is imperfect. Write the sentence you are afraid to write. Make art for the sheer pleasure of seeing color move beneath your hands. Creativity has pulled us through more than one dark season, not because it fixed what happened, but because it gave the hurt a place to breathe. It reminded us there was still a self beneath the survival.
When another plot twist arrives, do not call yourself a failure because you feel shaken. You have been brave without feeling brave. You have cried and still shown up. You have rested and begun again. That counts. Let your people love you. Let joy visit without demanding proof that you earned it.
Keep choosing what makes your soul dance. Keep your curiosity. Tell the truth kindly, especially to yourself. Never shrink to fit a place you have outgrown. And if you forget who you are, look for the woman who found a way to make something beautiful in the middle of the mess. Take her hand. She knows the way forward, one honest step at a time.
Love,
Me — the unfinished woman who believes in you. ❤️
Now, dear reader, write your future self a note. Tell her what you survived. Tell her what you hope she keeps. She may need to hear your voice more than anyone else’s. If you would like to share your note with me, I would love to read it. Send it to me at sandy.soulsista@gmail.com
